Jones, CPM

If our mouths, throats, stomachs, and intestines were computerized to share proper health consumption commands, every time we consumed the ingredient Aspartame that is used as an artificial sweetener in diet sodas and over 6,000 other sugar-free products, the computer would constantly send us a message of DANGER. There is no sweet truth when it comes to artificial sweeteners as Aspartame and Saccharin, which are carcinogens and highly toxic to the body. The artificial truth does not explain how these ingredients have been linked to causing blood cancers like non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and Leukemia.

Packaged food makers and governmental regulatory agencies extend an artificial truth saying Aspartame and Saccharin are ‘generally recognized as safe’ (GRAS), thereby making this one of the most misleading areas of food labeling of all time. The way food producers justify their acceptance and use of aspartame is that the research safety studies that they rely on are exclusive to test on animals, not humans. The problem with relying on animal testing is that humans are the only species in our creator’s animal kingdom that does not possess a protective mechanism to compensate for methanol toxicity. In humans, methanol is allowed to be transported in the body to susceptible tissues and then converts it to formaldehyde.

Most fruits and vegetables have naturally-occurring methanol where it is firmly bonded to pectin, allowing the methanol to be safely passed through our digestive tract. On the other hand, aspartame is primarily made up of aspartic acid and phenylalanine that has been synthetically modified to carry a methyl group, which provides the majority of the sweetness. That phenylalanine easily breaks away and forms methanol, which when exposed to higher temperatures, it no longer tastes sweet that may make you want to eat more to get that sweet satisfaction.

Eating artificial sweeteners can hinder our body’s ability to estimate calorie intake, which can cause our body to crave more food, thereby possibly putting on weight, which further increases the risk for diabetes. Although I normally avoid all artificial sweeteners, there is Stevia that is a non-caloric sweetener derived solely from a plant and is reported to be totally natural. However, be sugar alert because Stevia products are frequently sold with extra additives and can be found to be blended with other sweeteners.

It is evident that anything labeled as being artificial is in place to fool something or somebody. Now in the case of artificial sweeteners they are high-tech designed chemicals that work to trick the body’s sweet receptors in the esophagus and stomach, in addition to being disguised as a zero-calorie substitute. The problem is that the pancreas organ is also tricked into sending out a false spike of insulin that can lead to becoming insulin resistance, which of course will over time lead to diabetes.

www.SugarAlert.com
Mr. Jones is a marketing strategist with Southland Partnership Corporation (a public benefit organization), sharing his view on mismanagement practices of packaged foods & beverages.

By Dean L.
